Studio Policies
Welcome to Renaissance Music Studio! The guidelines below outline expectations for attendance, scheduling, communication, cancellations, billing, practice, and more. These policies help ensure that lessons run smoothly and that every student receives the best possible learning experience. Please review these guidelines to stay informed about our shared commitments and responsibilities.
Attendance and Scheduling
Regular attendance is essential for steady musical progress. Students are expected to attend each scheduled lesson on time and prepared. Because lesson times are reserved specifically for each student, consistent attendance ensures continuity in learning and honors the time commitments of both teacher and family.
Lesson Time Changes
We realize that sometimes engagements and schedules change mid-term. In such a case, please do not hesitate to contact Lauren, and she will do her absolute best to find an alternative solution.
Cancellations and Make-Ups
If you must cancel a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. While tuition reserves a weekly lesson time rather than individual lessons, the studio offers up to two grace‑based makeup sessions per semester for illness or genuine emergencies. These makeups must be scheduled within 30 days and are subject to availability. If a lesson must be cancelled for non‑emergency reasons, please notify the studio well in advance. Requests for an adjusted lesson time can only be considered with sufficient notice and are subject to availability. Lessons missed without prior notice are not eligible for rescheduling.
In the rare event that Lauren must cancel a lesson, a makeup will be offered within 30 days of the missed lesson.
Billing
Monthly payments are due by the first day of every month. Payments may be made through Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, cash, or check. Online payment options coming soon.
Practice Expectations
Consistent practice is one of the most important factors in a student’s musical growth. Lauren will partner with each student to create a practice plan that fits their schedule while still encouraging steady progress and healthy habits. Students are expected to follow this plan throughout the week and arrive at each lesson prepared, focused, and ready to build on what they have learned. Regular practice not only supports skill development but also helps students experience the joy and confidence that come from meaningful musical progress.
Locations
Lessons are located in Forest, VA, and Rocky Mount, VA. In-home lessons are offered and subject to the student's location and the instructor's availability.
Permanent Lesson Cancellation
Renaissance Music Studio understands that sometimes circumstances will require you to cancel lessons permanently. In such a case, Renaissance requires a one-month’s notice to avoid billing you for the following month (for example, in order to cancel lessons effective April, a notice is due March 1). Please be advised that any outstanding balances need to be settled before lessons can be cancelled.
